About the photo size
Brazil traditionally uses a 5x7cm (50x70mm) photo format, which is larger than the ICAO 35x45mm standard used by most countries. Some Brazilian consulates abroad may accept 2x2 inches or 35x45mm — always check with your specific consulate.
Rules
- Expression: Neutral, mouth closed. No smiling.
- Glasses: Not allowed.
- Eyes: Both eyes must be open and clearly visible.
- Ears: Not required to be visible, but full face must be clear.
- Head coverings: Not allowed unless for religious reasons.
- Background: Plain white only. No patterns or shadows.
- Lighting: Even, no shadows on face or background.
- Recency: Must be a recent photo. Previously used passport photos are not accepted.
- Retouching: No digital retouching of any kind.
