Rules

• Expression: Neutral. Mouth closed, no smile.
• Glasses: Not allowed.
• Eyes: Both eyes must be open and clearly visible.
• Ears: Both ears must be visible. This is strictly enforced by the DFA. Tuck hair behind your ears before taking the photo.
• Forehead: Must be visible. No bangs or fringe covering it.
• Head coverings: Not allowed unless for religious reasons. Face and ears must still be visible.
• Background: Plain white. No patterns, shadows, or other objects.
• Lighting: Even, no shadows on face or background. No red eye.
• Recency: Taken within the last 6 months.

Common rejection reasons

• Ears not visible (most common reason for Philippines)
• Shadows on face or behind head
• Wearing glasses
• Background not plain white
• Photo is blurry or low resolution
• Mouth open or smiling
• Hair covering forehead or ears
