Rules
- Expression: Neutral, mouth closed. No smiling.
- Glasses: Not allowed. Remove all eyewear before taking your photo.
- Eyes: Both eyes must be open and clearly visible.
- Ears: Both ears must be clearly visible. This is strictly enforced by BOCA. Tuck hair behind your ears before taking the photo.
- Head coverings: Not allowed unless for religious reasons. Face and ears must be fully visible.
- Background: Plain white. No patterns, shadows, or other people.
- Lighting: Even, no shadows on face or background.
- Recency: Taken within the last 6 months.
Common rejection reasons
- Ears not visible (hair covering one or both ears)
- Head height outside the strict 32–36mm range
- Wearing glasses in the photo
- Shadows on face or background
- Background is not plain white
