UAE Visa Photo Requirements

Photo specifications

Important: The UAE uses a unique 43 x 55 mm photo format. This size is not used by any other country. Do not submit a standard 35 x 45 mm passport photo — it will be rejected.

Rules

• Expression: Neutral. Mouth closed, no smile.
• Glasses: Not allowed.
• Eyes: Both eyes must be open and clearly visible.
• Forehead: Should be visible unless wearing a religious head covering.
• Head coverings: Allowed for religious reasons. Face must be fully visible from forehead to chin.
• Background: Plain white. No patterns, shadows, or other objects.
• Lighting: Even, no shadows on face or background. No red eye.
• Recency: Taken within the last 6 months.

Common rejection reasons

• Wrong photo size (using 35x45mm instead of 43x55mm)
• Shadows on face or behind head
• Wearing glasses
• Background not plain white
• Photo is blurry or low resolution
• Mouth open or smiling
